COMPANY HISTORY

C. J. Keane & Co has been a family real estate company for more than eighty years and was first set up by Celestine Joseph Keane in the early part of the 20th century. When time came for him to retire in 1951, he sold the business to the young twenty seven year old Sydney Thomson who took over the reigns of this already well established company, and for reasons of goodwill and the existing long standing reputation in Geelong, kept the original owner's name.

Syd Thomson was a power house and for five decades headed the ever expanding family business from its one office located in Ryrie Street, Geelong to its current head office in Fenwick Street. Along the real estate journey Syd and his son Laurie Thomson opened eight other C.J. Keane Real Estate offices across the Geelong region and down the south west coast.

Today, C. J. Keane & Co is continuing in the family tradition and is directed by family members Laurie Thomson, Libby Thomson & Janette Carland along with Peter Carland (leasing) and an associate Doug Williams.

OUR PROPERTY MANAGEMENT DIVISION

Beginning with a property management portfolio of forty five properties in 1951, C. J. Keane & Co now has close to 3000 properties across its nine offices making us one of the top 10 largest property management agencies in Melbourne, and the largest regional property management agency.  This extensive property management division is led by family member, Peter Carland who has thirty six years experience in real estate. His team of seventeen experienced property managers are committed to building personal relationships and service excellence in order to deliver the best possible results for our clients. We have over 2000 registered landlords on our extensive company database, many of whom we continue to assist in their ongoing acquisition of properties throughout Geelong.
